Rescue (res’ kū): To free from danger. n. An act of deliverance.
Our mission is to provide a safe refuge for rabbits and other small animals of the Midwest. We work with our dozens of partner shelters and rescue organizations to take in rabbits and other critters and allow them to focus on what they do best, cats and dogs! When space is available, we do take in some personal surrenders as well from families who are trying to do what is in the best interest of their beloved companions.
Rehabilitate (rē’hə-bĭl’ĭ-tāt’): To restore to a good health or useful life through therapy and education.
Many of the animals that join us have spent their entire lives in small, outdoor wire pens with no toys or stimulation and especially no companionship. Many have urine-soaked fur, are covered in dirt and feces, and have no idea what to do with the things other animals take for granted such as hay and veggies!!!! These critters have often been used for breeding or were bred specifically for their meat and fur and for some reason just weren’t “good enough” for their owners.
Our passion is to work with these animals, to teach them what family really means, show them the joy of treats and toys, and allow them time to learn about cuddles, snuggles, and love. For some animals, this transformation is quick, while with others, it may take a lifetime. Every animal in our care has as long as they need to come to peace with their new life.
Re-Home (rē’ hohm): v. To find a new dwelling that serves as a permanent and loving living quarters for one or more animals.
After spaying or neutering our rabbits and helping them to adjust to the luxuries of indoor living, we look for their forever home. Our application process includes a lengthy application that allows us to peer into the lives of potential adopters. This application gives us the ability to match up the best critter-family pair so that the animal that ends up being adopted is a suitable match for the new families’ lifestyle!
A bunny surrendered to a local shelter where he likely would have been euthanized due to his poor condition. We took him in and provided him with necessary medical attention, quality food, clean water, and a warm place to recover. Today he lives in a forever home with a family who loves him unconditionally!!!

The Dog House Pet Center
The Dog House Pet Center in Appleton has been a life-saver for our organization. Providing us with cages, hay, food, and expertise, the owners of the Dog House and Pet Center have helped us save many little lives! They have allowed us to give neglected bunnies larger cages, fun toys, and all of the other little extras that we may not otherwise be able to provide without their assistance!

Fox Valley Humane Association has provided our organization with the ability to efficiently spay and neuter all of our bunnies. With the help of FVHA, we are able to keep our alteration costs down so we can continue to provide all of our adopters with a low adoption fee. Dr. Diane Grede, an exotic animal veterinarian, at Animal Hospital of Oshkosh provides our animals with her specialized Exotic Animal knowledge. Any time we have a complex medical problem or need advice on one of our bunnies she has been there with her advice and amazing exotic animal knowledge! We thank Dr. Grede for all she has done for our rescue! Animal Hospital of Oshkosh also carries Oxbow foods and hay which we recommend for a healthy rabbit or guinea pig.
